Activate 02: Is It Worth the Hype
This weekend, Elijah and I decided to check out Activate at the O2, and I’ll be honest—I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’d heard a few bits here and there, mostly from other parents either really praising it or debating the cost. So we went in with open minds (and slightly raised eyebrows at the ticket price of £29.50 each 😅).
First ImpressionsAs soon as we stepped in, the vibe was high energy and super immersive. Activate isn’t your average play space—it’s more like a real-life video game experience, filled with LED-lit challenges that test your speed, agility, memory, and coordination. Elijah’s eyes lit up immediately, and he was fully immersed, there was no moments of boredom for him.

The Games: The rooms have different zones—think climbing walls, memory grids, high-speed reaction games and more. It’s all timed, so you’ve got to work fast but smart. Elijah especially loved the zone where you had to hit light-up targets before they disappeared—he beat me on that one more times than I’d like to admit.
It’s all very interactive and keeps you moving the entire time. The hour flew by, and we were both left breathless (me from the cardio, him from the excitement).
The Verdict: Would we go again? Yes, especially if we’re planning a special treat or birthday experience. Is it a little on the pricey side at £29.50 per person? Definitely. For two people, that’s nearly £60 for one hour of play, which can add up quickly for larger families. That said, it’s well-run, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the space is clean and well-organised.
If you’re looking for something different that’ll actually get your kids off screens and moving, Activate delivers. But if you’re budgeting, it might be worth saving this one for a special occasion.
Top Tips if You’re Planning a Visit
Wear comfy shoes—you’ll need them, and they do not allow heels or open toe shoes.
Arrive 15–20 minutes early to get briefed and prepped.
Bring water. You’ll be more active than you think!
If you have younger children, check the age guidance—some of the challenges are better suited for 8+.
All in all, it was a fun and memorable way to spend time with Elijah—and hey, I got a decent workout in too! 💪🏾
Have you been to Activate yet? Would love to hear your thoughts—and whether you think it’s worth the price tag!
